Soul singer Amy Winehouse will face no further action in connection with an alleged attempt to pervert the course of justice, British police said on Friday. The Grammy award-winning singer had been released on bail after being arrested by appointment last December and was due to return to a London police station in March pending further inquiries.

But police on Friday said the 24-year-old was no longer required.

A spokesman for Winehouse said she was “pleased to be discounted from the investigation and she thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her”.

Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, is charged with trying to pervert the course of justice and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges at Snaresbrook Crown Court and was remanded in custody on Friday until April.

Winehouse did not attend the hearing.

She was absent because she was traveling to Paris to perform at a party for luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton.

More Mommy Time for Britney

britney spears with kids spears gets to see her kids again spears in the news

After not seeing her boys for almost two months, Britney Spears has scored her second face-to-face visit in the past three days.

The embattled pop star received another in-home visit from one-year-old Jayden James and two-year-old Sean Preston on Monday, E! News has confirmed.

The kids were again shuttled to Spears’ home in Kevin Federline’s gray Dodge Viper truck, driven by Federline’s longtime security guard, at around 9 a.m. They departed shortly after noon.  News of the Monday sojourn was first reported by jfxonline.com.

While few details of Monday’s mommy-and-me session were available, during Saturday’s visit, Spears, 26, was not permitted to be alone with her sons.

Among those present at the initial visit were her father, Jamie Spears, a court-appointed monitor, a Federline bodyguard and an attorney from the Luce Forward law firm, which is handling Britney’s conservatorship for Jamie Spears. It was believed all parties were on hand again for Monday’s visit.

The boys have resided primarily with Federline, since October, when Spears was stripped of custody. The singer lost visitation on Jan. 3, after a custody standoff that ended with her being hospitalized and placed on a psych hold.

The recent visits were the result of negotiations between lawyers for Kevin Federline and Luce Forward last week, with Jamie Spears also sharing a large portion of the credit.

“None of this would have happened if Jamie Spears had not been involved. That’s for sure,” Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News Friday. “He gets a lot of credit for helping make this happen. But we’ve worked very hard with the conservator lawyers, as well, to make this all work.”

Meanwhile, lawyers for the conservatorship filed new court documents Monday, urging a judge to end a civil rights challenge to Jamie Spears’ control over his daughter’s financial affairs.

Attorney Jon Eardley, who claims he was hired by the troubled singer earlier this month, has argued in court documents that Britney’s constitutional rights are being violated and is seeking to have her conservatorship case moved from Los Angeles Superior Court to federal court.

In their latest motion, the conservatorship attorneys argue that Eardley has both failed to prove that he legitimately represents Britney, and to meet the court’s filing deadline.

They have asked that the case be immediately returned to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz and that Eardley be forced to reimburse the approximately $43,000 in attorney fees racked up as a result of his actions.

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline has agreed to reinstate her visitation rights with their two sons, his lawyer said in a statement on Friday, according to The Associated Press.

Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said in a statement the former couple has agreed to a modification of a court order that had stripped Spears of her visitation rights, AP reported. The statement did not provide more details, but Kaplan told People.com on Friday that Spears would be allowed to see her sons “soon, very soon.”

Britney Spears, 26, has yet another battle to face: one for her money.  J

ust last year Forbes magazine estimated the pop star’s fortune at $100 million, making her the 12th-richest female entertainer in the world. But on Feb. 4, Adam Streisand, an attorney who represented her in court that day, revealed that Britney’s now worth only $40 million. While she’s obviously still a very rich woman, she’s lost a massive amount of money — $60 million! — since last year, Life & Style Weekly reports.
The loss is so huge, the Internal Revenue Service is stepping in. “Britney’s being audited,” an insider says. “The IRS has been watching her for a while. They want to find out if she’s been ripped off and by whom.” And right now anyone could be questioned. Explains the insider, “The IRS is looking at everyone in her inner circle, her record label — anyone who has ever received a dime from her or had access to her money.”

Shopping: $192,000 a year
Recent court documents show Britney’s monthly clothing budget at $16,000.
Vacations: $1.2 million yearly
The paperwork from her divorce from Kevin shows she also blows about $102,000 a month jetting off to places like Hawaii.
Lawyers: $600 an hour
A top divorce attorney (like Brit’s former lawyer Laura Wasser) demands high hourly rates. Plus, Britney pays for Kevin’s legal fees.
Alimony: $15,000 a month
Because Kevin’s had primary custody of their sons, Sean, 2, and Jayden, 1, Brit has to pay him monthly child support.
Houses: $7.2 million plus taxes
Located in a gated community in Beverly Hills, Britney’s 7,400-foot mansion — which has five bedrooms, a media room, a pool and a library — didn’t come cheap.
Doctors: $86,000 a month
Britney’s health insurance premiums and other medical expenses (including her 2007 month-long stay in rehab) added up to nearly $1 million!

Star shines at Pulse 87

Controversial morning host Star returned to radio Tuesday a lot more quietly than he left it in May 2006.

In his first day on WNYZ (87.7 FM, Pulse 87), Star talked less about his noisy firing from WWPR (105.1 FM) than about a recent liver transplant and other major surgery that left him 62 pounds lighter and restricted to a diet heavy on baby food.

“I don’t feel a need to discuss events of the past,” said Star (Troi Torain), who was fired after he made crude remarks about the young daughter of DJ Envy, a member of the morning team on rival station WQHT (97.1 FM).

Star was later arrested and did three days of community service. He has said his comments were taken out of context and were just a random shot in a manufactured “radio war” his bosses at Power’s parent Clear Channel encouraged him to escalate.

He said Tuesday, “There’s no bitterness, there are no scores to settle.” But he has a suit pending against Clear Channel, charging he was fired for doing what he was told, and he promised listeners yesterday that “I will tell you all about [the suit] someday.”

Otherwise, he only did a little mild and familiar sniping at former employers Tuesday, referring to Clear Channel as “Fear Channel,” WWPR as “Power One-Oh-Jive” and WQHT as “Shot 97.”

He focused more on current cultural events, saying he loves A&E’s “The First 48,” then deflecting most political discussion after saying he supports John McCain for President.

He spent considerable time promoting Pulse 87, which switched to its uptempo contemporary rhythm format Feb. 11 and has drawn raves from dance fans.

Star played several songs himself, all in the dance format. “It’s nice,” he joked, “not to have to wake up to Jay-Z and P. Diddy.”

He said he will feature a daily mix segment from DJ Yonny, formerly of WWPR and now Star’s new producer. The rest of the team is White Trash Helene, Buc Wild and DX21.

Star said he had “several offers” for other radio jobs before he joined Pulse 87, including a proposal last March from XM.

“XM was great,” he says. “We still might work with them. But playing rap records and cursing a lot wasn’t what I wanted to do.”

Part of the appeal of Pulse 87, he said, is that its signal comes from a low-power TV station, over which Star plans to produce a video version of the show. He also expects radio syndication.

One of his harshest critics, Queens councilman John Liu yesterday said he has no problem with Star back on the radio “if he’s learned his lesson.

“He has pledged to behave responsibly over the airwaves and now we will see if he lives up to that newfound conscientiousness. We’ll be watching.”
