Britney Spears ‘Happy’ But Not Engaged

Reports that Britney Spears’ agent-boyfriend Jason Trawick left the country after rejecting her wedding proposal are “100 percent absolutely false,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. “There was no proposal and they were never engaged.” When Trawick headed back to L.A. instead of spending the holidays with Spears, buzz surrounding the couple’s relationship went into high gear. But there is nothing to worry about. “Jason spent more time in Australia than originally planned,” says the source. “They are very happy.”

Over the weekend, OK! Magazine released its new cover story, claiming that Spears was engaged. “Britney said she does not have a doubt in her mind that she wants to spend the rest of her life with Jason,” a source close to the couple told OK!. “She has already discussed marriage with him, and they are both excited about a romantic wedding.”

Britney Spears Forced To Re-Record ‘If You Seek Amy’

Britney Spears has reportedly been forced to re-record her song, “If You Seek Amy” due to the threat of radio stations worrying about “that mom in the minivan with her eight-year-old”. Good grief, will this ever end?

She is editing the track, which includes the lyrics, “All of the boys and all the girls are beggin’ to If You Seek Amy”, to “If You See Amy”. Why ya gotta cater to these fools just to get your music heard?!?!?

WTF, right?

Moms in minivans know how to change the station if the music doesn’t meet their listening standards. But of course, we need a nanny to not give us the choice, don’t we? What’s the world coming to?

I like the song just the way it is and don’t believe in censorship. The uncensored version is going to do well in the dance clubs, though.

Fans are spending more than just a night at the “Circus” – they’re taking it home.

According to Billboard, “Circus,” Britney Spears’ new album will top the album charts next week.

The album could reportedly sell 450,000 copies in its first week on the racks, the same tally that notched Kanye West’s “808s & Heartbreak” the top spot this week. Should Britney complete the feat, it’ll be her fifth No. 1 album — more than any other female artist except Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.

Her previous album, 2007’s “Blackout,” sold 290,000 copies to debut in second place thanks to a last-minute rules change that counted sales of The Eagles’ chart-topping Wal-Mart exclusive, “Long Road Out Of Eden.” Previously, albums sold at a single retailer would not be counted toward chart placement.

Britney has been promoting the album everywhere from Germany’s Bambi Awards to the U.K.‘s “The X Factor” to NBC’s Christmas At Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting and will launch a tour in March.

From two psychiatric evaluations, to losing custody of her sons, to a triumphant return to the top of the pop echelon, Britney Spears knows her 2008 has been one rollercoaster of a ride.

“This whole year has been a hell of a year for me,” Spears tells Glamour magazine in its January 2009 issue. “I have ‘come back’ so many times, people are just like, Is this another one? …It’s kind of like a joke to me now.”

Admitting that she “didn’t know exactly where I stood with everyone,” Spears says it was her big night at the Video Music Awards, where she picked up three trophies, that made her realize people do want her to give them more. “When I received the awards and [the audience] stood for me, it showed me how much love is out there,” she says.

As she prepares for the Tuesday release of Circus, which coincides with her 27th birthday, the singer hopes fans will hear its “really personal” tone.

“Recording this album has helped take my mind off certain things,” she says. “For me, my music is therapy …It’s me talking to them, instead of just singing a song about something.”

Spears, who reiterated she prefers being a homebody to partying nowadays, also has high — and stable — hopes for 2009 and the future as she closes the chapter on a whirlwind 2008.

“I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time. And to learn how to be happier, just in general,” she said. “In five years I would like to be married and have a father figure for my kids, someone who is a provider and can be really stable. It’s hard doing it on your own.”

Where does Britney stand with you? Will Circus complete her “comeback,” or is her comeback still in the making?

Britney Spears Circus Tour

Britney Spears, who just jetted off to Europe to start her international “Circus” tour, tells Rolling Stone that she’s really matured in the last year.

And not necessarily in a good way.

“I feel like an old person now,” she says in Rolling Stone’s next issue, out Friday. “I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don’t go out or anything.”

Spears turns 27 on Dec. 2, the day her album, “Circus,” hits stores.

But it has been a busy year for the pop star: two trips to hospital psychiatric wards, head-shaving, car windshield-bashing, run-ins with the paparazzi and an affair with one of them, speaking in a British accent, stumbling disastrously onstage at the 2007 VMAs and then making an amazing comeback at the 2008 show.

Ever since her father, Jamie Spears, filed for legal conservator ship  so that he could oversee her finances and personal affairs, her life has gotten saner and more normal. Well, as sane and normal as a famous pop star’s life can be.

Will it last? Will Britney ever escape this micromanaged life she is now living?

Probably not as long as she keeps performing and bringing in the bucks. Maybe if she retires, she can live her own life.
