Perhaps we were just being uncharacteristically optimistic, but it seemed to us that Britney Spears’ life was finally back on track. She’s burning up the charts with her new single, early reviews of her upcoming album are positive, and her hair no longer looks like something birds try to lay eggs on. But it’s possible we cracked open the celebratory Red Bull and Cheetos too early.
In a new documentary, Britney Spears: For the Record, the poptart reportedly expresses dissatisfaction with her current living arrangement, which is overseen by her father and court-appointed conservator, Jamie.
“I think it’s too in control,” she confesses to the cameras, according to NME. “If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening. If you do something wrong in your work, you can move on, but I’m having to pay for a long time. I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free.”
According to the 90-minute doc, which is set to air Nov. 30 on MuchMusic, Spears also admits that writhing around in skimpy costumes while lip-synching has lost its appeal: “There’s no excitement, there’s no passion. I have really good days, and then I have bad days. Even when you go to jail you know there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like Groundhog Day every day.”
Poor Brit-Brit. If she really wants to break the cycle, she should learn to play piano, take French lessons and, if possible, sleep with Andie MacDowell. Hey, it worked for Bill Murray!
