There’s been mounting speculation in industry circles that the Oscars are trying to make the Golden Globes increasingly insignificant.

How? By telling presenters that if they make a splashy appearance at the Globes, then their chances of having a similar presence at the big dance in February is less likely.

Enter Jennifer Lopez, who opened the Golden Globes by presenting the first award

“J.Lo wasn’t the first choice,” says a source close to the planning. “They were hoping that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would open the show; it looked good, then all of a sudden, Brad and Angie weren’t interested anymore. J.Lo was happy to do it, and there you go.”

Lopez’s appearance didn’t do much to quell rumors that her marriage is on the rocks. Lopez did not wear her wedding ring while on stage, although her husband Marc Anthony was in the audience.

One Lopez source commented, “if she wanted the rumors to go away, she would have tossed the ring on her hand.

Jennifer Lopez will be the subject of her own reality-TV show about her life.

The show, to be shown on US cable channel TLC, will track the star’s everyday life as she juggles her professional career with motherhood.

“Jennifer is unbelievably passionate about life and will be an incredible role model for our audience,” TLC president Angela Shapiro-Mathes said.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have reportedly shunned regular childcare help and are keen to raise their twins themselves.

Jennifer gave birth to daughter Emme and son Max in February and enlisted sister Lynda to help out until they got into the swing of it.

However, according to Us Weekly, Lynda left in the middle of April to concentrate on her own pregnancy and now the famous couple are handling diaper duty by themselves.

A source explained: “Jennifer looked forward to being a mom for so long that she has no interest in just handing the kids off to someone else.

“They’ll hire babysitters or nannies to cover particular occasions but on a day to day level, it’s just them - and they’re loving it.”

Lopez’s manager, Simon Fields, confirmed the babies’ names to People magazine.

Fields added that Lopez, a first-time mother at 39, was “thrilled” at the babies’ arrival last month.

Lopez, who only confirmed she was pregnant in November after months of speculation, gave birth at a hospital in Long Island, New York.

People magazine paid up to $6m (£3m) for the first pictures of the twins, it has been reported in the US.

Lopez and Anthony, 38, married in 2004.
