Tony Romo broke up with Simpson last Thursday, the night before her 29th birhtday, according to People magazine.

But Simpson, who had planned to celebrate her birthday with a Barbie and Ken-themed party, already appeared to be bouncing back after the breakup.

“Barbie party didn’t happen, but I turned 29 and feel like I am on top of the world yelling I LOVE GETTING OLDER!” she wrote on her Twitter page last Saturday.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback also wasted no time lamenting the busted relationship. According to People, Romo spent Simpson’s birthday at Hollywood hot spot MyHouse with 14 of his boys.

By Sunday, Simpson was waxing philosophical about love. “Everyone needs to know that hope floats … grab the strings and pull it back to you,” she Tweeted.

Three hours later, she wrote, “Falling asleep with my mom and the dogs. Please lord give all of my beautiful fans, friends, enemies, and family rest. Bring all of us peace.”

A People source said that even though Simpson still loves Romo and is heartbroken over the breakup, their careers got in the way of their relationship. “He’s busy with his career and she’s getting ready to shoot her show (”The Price of Beauty”). They decided to part ways,” the source told People.

Notwithstanding her recent breakup, Simpson seemed to be riding high after a spate of bad publicity.

Jessica Simpson is headed back to reality TV for the VH1 series “The Price of Beauty.”

According to the press release, “Beauty” will take Simpson all over the world “to meet women, study local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes,” all in an attempt to explore the meaning of true beauty in different cultures.

Simpson said she was “immediately intrigued” by the concept of doing a show about “true beauty.”

“I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect.”

The singer and reality TV star has long been scrutinized for her fluctuating weight, an issue she recently tried to address in the June issue of Vanity Fair:

“It comes with what I do,”she said, “and I know that every day the media’s going to challenge me, is going to want to bring me down. But I feel like I’m at such a place that I own myself, and it’s authentic. I own that authentic part of myself, and none of those words are harsh enough to make me believe them.”

Jeff Olde, VH1 executive vice president of original programming, said Simpson, perhaps more than her peers, “has been the target of our obsession with beauty on both sides of the equation. She is a woman who can set trends and create firestorms with a single photo.” The series, Olde added, gives Simpson the opportunity “to take control of that conversation.”

“The Price of Beauty” will premiere in 2010.

Now she’s getting blasted for her “forbidden” workout video shot in 2005 for “Speedfit.”

Alex Astilean, owner of Speedfit, leaked the video to various media outlets, including Pet Rock. But due to the cursing of who the video tells us to be Simpson’s business manager David Levin, we chose not to post it, and rather just link to it on Gawker (see that link above). Maybe that’s not the smartest move on our part, but at least I know I won’t get in trouble for posting a potty-mouth video.

Gawker and Defamer.com both reference a quote from a “source close to Simpson” given to The Scoop at msnbc.com in February 2008: “Jessica was a mess during that shoot. She had no focus, she put out something that was entirely unusable.”

John Mayer made a speedy exit from Gallery 1988 in LA recently - after hearing ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson would be there.

Mayer - who is now dating Jennifer Aniston - showed up solo to support pal Pete Wentz’s art effort “Without You I’m Just Me”.

But he ditched out early upon hearing Jess - who he dated for about nine months, beginning in the middle of 2006 - would be making an appearance.

A source tells the New York Daily News, “John showed up early for the public viewing and took pictures with fans, but left before the VIP portion of the evening started.

“He wanted to be there for Pete, but wanted more to avoid the possibility of a dramatic encounter with Jess.”

Jessica Simpson’s most recent single “Come On Over” was playing as she made her entrance into Macy’s on State Street Saturday afternoon.

The singer and pop culture phenomenon stopped by to introduce her newest fragrance, Fancy. The first 300 customers to buy the scent Saturday received an autographed photo.

There was no word on whether Simpson brought her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo to town with her.

On another note, Simpson recently mentioned her interest in studying religion, after seeing a documentary on the Da Vinci Code.
