Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are rumored to be in talks to star in a sitcom together.

US TV network HBO, which brought us Sex and the City, are reportedly keen to sign up the blonde trio to appear as flatmate’s struggling to make it big in Hollywood.

Hilton, Spears and Lohan were once close friends and were regularly seen together on the party circuit in 2006.

The proposed show has been described as a cross between Friends and Ugly Betty.

“The chemistry between them will be electric,” a source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper

“They were very close and have had their ups and downs in the Los Angeles party world but they have overcome those problems now. They can draw from their experiences for the sitcom.”

Show chiefs are said to have approached Extras star Ricky Gervais and Desperate Housewives creator Mark Cherry to pen the script, which would see the trio playing characters inspired by themselves.

“Paris will play a fashion designer who will try anything to get her outfits noticed,” the source said.

“Britney’s character is an aspiring singer, but her unusual song lyrics stop her from hitting the big time.

“Lindsay will be a little like Joey from Friends.”

Richie, whose best buddies include Hollywood hell raisers Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, says that her baby Harlow is responsible for improving their attitudes.

“My friends never go outside for smoke breaks anymore, they don’t curse, they are definitely more demure,” Extra reported Richie, 26, as saying.

“It’s actually been really interesting.

“I feel like my group of five to 10 friends, they really love her, like she’s theirs.”

This may explain Hilton’s sudden maternal urges, after reports stated the socialite was desperate to fall pregnant in the next year.

The 27-year-old believes her love of animals proves she would make a good mother.

“I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after and I feel I would have a lot to give my children,” The Sun reported Hilton as saying.

The 29-year-old socialite has been dating Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden for a few months — the twin brother and bandmate of Nicole’s fiance Joel.

Richie was reportedly paid over $1 million by People magazine for Harlow’s prized baby pictures.

Last month, she raised eyebrows after making the extraordinary claim that her three-month-old baby was highly intelligent and had already started speaking to her in private.

Who wants to bask in the reflected glory of Paris Hilton?

That’s the challenge the ubiquitous socialite is throwing out to 20 men and women who will compete in an MTV reality show to be her new “BFF” (best friend forever).

Hilton, 27, unveiled the series, with the working title “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF,” during a news conference at a luxury home high in the Hollywood Hills on Thursday.

Production on the 10-episode series is slated to begin in Los Angeles at the end of May, with an air date scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2008.

Wannabe members of Hilton’s entourage must submit their details to a web site, www.parisbff.com, where online voters will decide their fate. The 20 finalists will move into a house with Hilton, and will learn from the master about “normal girl stuff,” like fashion, parties and shopping.

The winner, joining a long list of trusty sidekicks such as Dr. Watson, Tonto and Karl Rove, will get “an all-access pass to the VIP section of the VIP section,” according to a statement.

At least until the inevitable celebrity feud flares up, which Hilton joked would “probably” inspire a new reality series. She declined to detail how the winner would be chosen, and what exactly they would win.

According to Usmagazine.com, Paris will star in a brand new reality show depicting her search for Nicole’s replacement. “The show is going to be about her searching for a new best friend,” a source said. “Paris is tired of the haters and she’s looking for someone new. She’s looking for someone new and cool who she can trust.”

Right, and what better way to find a trustworthy individual than to put out an open casting call.

This masterpiece is expected to be picked up by either MTV or VH1 and is “going to be full of good chick drama and you will see a side of Paris not seen on Simple Life.”
