anna nicole smith daughter dannielynn named heir

A judge on Tuesday ruled that the baby daughter of deceased model Anna Nicole Smith is the sole heir to her estate, meaning 18-month-old Dannielynn could inherit a multimillion-dollar fortune.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff’s ruling also established a trust for Dannielynn that would be administered by Smith’s companion, Howard K. Stern, and Dannielynn’s father, Larry Birkhead.

Smith, a former Playboy model and television actress, died in February last year of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, roughly five months after Dannielynn was born. Smith’s son, Daniel, died only three days after Dannielynn’s birth. He was 20.

Daniel had been Anna Nicole Smith’s heir according to a will that was written well before his death, but the actress/model never changed the will. Stern, who is executor of Smith’s estate, had petitioned the Los Angeles court in October to name Dannielynn as the sole heir.

“We and Mr. Stern always believed that Anna Nicole never intended to disinherit her daughter,” Stern’s lawyer, Bruce Ross, said after the hearing. “I’m pleased to say this chapter in the saga is closed.”

At the time of her death, Smith was embroiled in a legal battle over the will of billionaire oil tycoon Howard Marshall.

She married Marshall when she was 26 years old and he was 89. He died 14 months later with a fortune estimated at $1.6 billion, triggering a battle between Smith and Marshall’s family over his estate that still has not been resolved.

If that dispute is settled and Anna Nicole Smith’s estate receives a large payout, the money would belong to Dannielynn.

The birth of Dannielynn and deaths of Daniel and Anna Nicole Smith were the subjects of a huge media frenzy last year due to the actress/model’s celebrity.

Hollywood braces for possible actors strike

The final epilogue to the tumultuous writers strike has been written, but Hollywood is bracing for a possible sequel to the costly walkout — this one starring film and television actors. While the TV industry has rushed to bring derailed shows back on the air since screenwriters returned to work three weeks ago, the threat of renewed labor unrest by actors in the months ahead has put movie studios in a tenuous situation.

Filmmakers are reluctant to launch any production that cannot be completed before the expiration of the Screen Actors Guild’s major film and TV contract on June 30 — a date being treated as the union’s de facto strike deadline.

Assuming a typical 60-day movie shoot, plus extra time for days off, possible overruns and re-shoots that might be necessary, that means few if any big-studio movies will start filming after the end of this month, industry experts say.

“The studios for the most part are not greenlighting any movies that would have to be in production after that (June 30) deadline,” said an insider at one leading talent agency who was not authorized to speak publicly about client issues.

Labor jitters have even prompted Hollywood’s leading insurance carrier, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co, to offer a first-of-its-kind “strike expense” policy for studios.

The policy covers the costs of a strike-related production shutdown in the event that an actor’s illness, equipment damage or other unexpected loss pushes the shooting schedule of a movie past SAG’s June 30 contract deadline.

To qualify, a film must be scheduled to finish shooting by June 15 and already be covered by a so-called completion bond, which insures a movie’s financial backers against the cost of failing to finish a picture on time and on budget

Elvis Presley’s King-sized daughter Lisa-Marie

There may be many advantages to being Elvis Presley’s daughter, but at times your genetic inheritance may not be one of them.

The Daily Mail reports that at a New York homeless charity event this month Lisa Marie, who has in the past tended to take after her still-youthful mother Priscilla - star of the Naked Gun series of films - appeared “bloated”.

Her father Elvis famously died of a suspected heart attack in 1977, when weighing as much as 250lb (18 stone).

While a long-standing amphetamines and painkillers habit are reported to have contributed to his untimely death - he was just 42 - his penchant for snacks such as the bacon, peanut butter and banana deep-fried sandwich was well-documented.

It is reported that he would eat one made from a hollowed-out loaf intended to feed eight people at a single sitting.

Miss Presley’s appearance is in stark contrast to last summer, when a trim Lisa-Marie appeared in a virtual-reality duet with her late father.

The singer-songwriter, who counts Nicolas Cage and Michael Jackson among her three ex-husbands, is currently married to Michael Lockwood, her guitarist and producer. She has released two platinum-selling albums, and in August 2007 her duet with Elvis on his 1968 single “In The Ghetto” reached number one on the iTunes video sales chart in the first week of its release.

A third album, as yet unnamed, is due to be released at some stage in 2008.

After months of speculation, E! Entertainment Television has greenlit a reality show centered on Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, and her 14-year-old daughter, Ali. Tentatively titled Living Lohan, the eight-episode series, set to debut this summer, will follow Dina as she balances life as a mother and a manager trying to help launch Ali’s career as an aspiring singer-actress. The show, from Bunim-Murray Prods. and Maloof TV, will chronicle Ali and Dina’s upcoming trip to Las Vegas, where Ali is set to start work on a solo album — which will release on the Maloofs’ Interscope-owned record label. While in Vegas, the duo will stay at the Maloof-owned Palms hotel. Though the show will also feature Dina’s two sons, 11-year-old Cody and 20-year-old college student Michael, so far, there are no plans to have Lindsay appear, though producers leave that door wide open, pointing out that anything’s possible with such a ”close-knit family.”

Britney Spears denies pregnancy

“Britney has put on weight because the doctors have switched her prescription,” a source was quoted in The Sun.

The rumours first started in January when the couple were pictured at a pharmacy buying a home pregnancy test kit.

Spears’s 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Casey Aldridge.

The pop star, who spiralled out of control following an acrimonious split with husband Kevin Federline, has recently been allowed to see her two sons for the first time in two months.

Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said that the former couple have agreed to modify the court order that stripped Spears of her visitation rights.

In early January, the singer was taken from her home by paramedics following a stand-off with Federline.

Police were called after she refused to hand over the boys and she was briefly hospitalised. She has since lost all visitation rights.
