An ambulance was called to the 24-year-old singer’s house in Camden, north London and she was taken to the accident and emergency unit at University College Hospital at around 8.40pm.

Police were stationed outside her house as Winehouse was brought out in a wheelchair while wrapped in a blanket and given oxygen. Her father Mitch Winehouse was with her.

Her spokesman Chris Goodman said: “Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to hospital.

“Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow.”

A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at approximately 8.40pm to an address in NW1 to reports of an adult female taken unwell.

“We sent an ambulance and a fast response car and the patient has been taken to hospital.”

A hospital spokesman said Ms Winehouse was in a stable condition and medics would make a decision whether to discharge her this morning.

The spokesman added they expected her to go home tomorrow if she has a comfortable night.

Mr Winehouse entered the hospital at around 11.50pm and asked reporters and photographers to leave the family alone.

When asked how serious his daughter’s condition was, he held up a bag of KFC and replied: “This is how serious it is.”

Winehouse, who is being treated for an addiction to crack cocaine, is also suffering from emphysema and was admitted to hospital after collapsing at her home last month.

Mr Winehouse said in June: “It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.

The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her.”

Blake Fielder-Civil, the husband of the singer Amy Winehouse, got into a barroom fight in 2006 and beat up a pub manager, James King. Though he has admitted he offered Mr. King $400,000 to keep quiet about the incident, a British court acquitted Mr. King on Wednesday of obstructing justice by taking a bribe, The Associated Press reported. Mr. King, who ended up with a broken cheekbone, said he had been intimidated into dropping assault charges. Mr. Fielder-Civil and three others face jail terms when they are sentenced.

Amy Winehouse might have to miss Glastonbury and the Nelson Mandela concert next week, the singer’s spokesman has admitted.

The troubled singer is booked to play at Mandela’s 90th birthday concert in Hyde Park on Friday June 27 followed by Glastonbury, directly before headliner Jay-Z, the following day.

But Winehouse, who has fought heroin and crack addiction, is still in a London clinic awaiting the results of tests following her collapse at home.

A spokesman said Winehouse still intended to perform at both high-profile events, but that that doctors would decide whether she was well enough to take to the stage.

He said: “Amy has undergone more scans and tests and we are awaiting the verdict of her doctors.

“At present, she still intends to perform at the two scheduled dates next week. However, a decision will be made entirely upon the advice of her doctors and in her best interests.”

Winehouse, 24, has been in the London Clinic since being taken there by her father Mitch after fainting at her home in Camden, north London, on Monday.

As spoken verse, it may scan a little awkwardly, and the rhymes could be considered somewhat laboured. But Amy Winehouse might argue that her lyrics were never intended to be scrutinised by the poetry brains of Cambridge University.

To the surprise of final-year English literature students, when they opened their practical criticism exam they found the troubled singer’s work pitted against Shakespeare, Milton, Wordsworth and Sir Walter Raleigh for literary analysis.

The verses from Love is a Losing Game may not quite make it as a sonnet, but the track, from Winehouse’s Back to Black album, was deemed good enough for discussion on lyric poetry. The extract included verses such as: “Though I’m rather blind/ Love is a fate resigned/ Memories mar my mind/ Love is a fate resigned” and “Over futile odds/ And laughed at by the gods/ And now the final frame/ Love is a losing game.”

Students expressed a mixture of surprise, irritation and no little admiration for their exam setters. “It was really bizarre,” said one student, speaking on condition of anonymity while his paper was with the markers. “I sat there looking at the paper in shock. I wouldn’t consider a controversial pop singer a literary figure.”

THE British singer has revealed a new statement regarding her involvements on “Quantum of Solace” movie soundtrack claiming that she has written a new song for it.

The news about Amy Winehouse’s involvements on the new James Bond movie “Quantum of Solace” takes another twist on its turn. After recent reports claim that Amy won’t be taking part on the film’s soundtrack, the singer has confirmed that she is writing a song for it.

The British singer confirms the news to the Mirror newspaper, while attending the Ivor Novello Awards. To the newspaper, Amy stated that she has finished the song and is still waiting for the movie’s producer approval. “I’ve written the song. If they like it they like it, if they don’t they don’t,” she said.

Amy’s statement is also supported by her producer Mark Ronson, who said that the troubled singer wrote the song in an acoustic guitar and he helps her on the music arrangement. “Amy wrote the song on an acoustic guitar. It was my job to help with the arrangement and realise the sound that we were going for. So that was my role,” Mark said.

Previously, it was Mark who told the press that Amy won’t be taking part on the upcoming bond movie, saying, “Unless by some miracle of science it gets recorded and someone sings a vocal.” However, the “Rehab” singer’s representative has a different opinion about it, saying, “Mark has presented a track to Amy, but she had other ideas about the direction it should take. She has always made her own decisions about her music.”

In other news, Amy herself recently has just won an award at the Ivor Novello. The singer managed to take home the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for her single “Love Is A Losing Game”.
