Chris Brown is done talking about Rihanna

Chris Brown doesn’t want to talk about the beating he laid on Rihanna anymore and isn’t afraid to let you know it.  He has had enough of the questions, wants to move on and wants the public to move on and forget the situation.

Brown is currently promoting his new album Graffiti and while he is quite happy to talk about his project, he has made it clear that he will no longer be answering questions about the incident.

Rihanna’s two-part interview with ”Good Morning America”’s Diane Sawyer airs Thursday and Friday. There’s the December cover of Glamour magazine featuring Rihanna, recognizing her as one of their “Women of the Year.” Every day it seems another Rihanna video is released, and don’t forget her new album “Rated R” is due in stores November 23rd. Until now, she’s been silent about the night she was left bruised and battered by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Tomorrow, we’ll hear from Rihanna. She’ll perhaps shed some light on the evening. We may learn what precipitated the blowout that ended in a smackdown. But there are two sides to every story. Rihanna’s side has been dramatically illustrated by the leaked evidence photo of her swollen eyelids, bruised face and busted lips.  Chris’ side includes a botched Larry King appearance, a fleeting shot of him serving his community service wearing an orange jumpsuit, and his Twitter posting with a link to a music video (made by fans) of he and Rihanna in ostensibly happier times. The video is set to Lee Carr’s “The Way We Used to Be” and accompanied by Brown’s apology “SORRY YALL. JUST HAD TO POST IT,” with a follow-up tweet “FOR THE FELLAS: showing emotion doesn’t make u weak… BEING HONEST MAKES U STRONG.”

If being honest makes you strong, then perhaps we’re about to see a much stronger Chris Brown. Friday at 6pm ET, his side of the story will play out in an interview with MTV’s Sway. According to an MTV press release, Brown will address “the questions people have been asking.”  In the 30-minute interview, the one-time R&B darling ”opens up about the aftermath of his assault” and his sentence that includes anger management and community labor. Why now? Is he looking for the last word after Rihanna’s two-day ABC sitdown? Could it be he also has an album to sell? Not yet, but his third album is on the way: ”Graffitti” is slated to hit stores December 8th.

In the end, we have two people, two well-timed interviews, two albums to sell, and two sides of the story… with no happy ending in sight.

Chris Brown can’t stop tweeting about Rihanna

During the wee hours of Monday morning, singer Chris Brown took to Twitter and posted a YouTube link to a photo montage of himself and Rihanna during happier times.

“I’m sorry y’all. Just had to post it,” was the accompanying text on the tweet, and the post immediately following said, “For the fellas: showing emotion doesn’t make u weak … being honest makes you strong.”

Sending tweets about Rihanna and what happened between them on Feb. 8 doesn’t break any laws (Brown’s stay-away order is still in place; his attorney Mark Geragos didn’t respond to requests for comment on Brown’s Twitter feed). But there’s something not right about using her for his own promotion.

Chris Brown Sentenced to Five Years’ Probation; Judge Issues Warning on Rihanna “Chatter”

Chris Brown was formally sentenced in Los Angeles today after accepting a plea deal to felony assault for beating the crap out of Rihanna in February.

His lawyer, Mark Geragos, named the community service program in Virginia in which Brown will be enrolling in a 52-week domestic violence program.

Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor. Here are the terms of Chris’ probation, as stipulated by the judge:

  • He is subject to search and seizure 24/7 for the next 60 months years. He can’t own any dangerous weapon, including guns or knives. He must surrender any firearms in his possession within 24 hours.
  • Brown must personally come to court every three months during probation. The first appearance will be November 19.
  • Chris must report by phone every 72 hours as requested.
  • He must provide DNA samples as requested by authorities.
  • Chris must perform 180 days of community labor.
  • He must get approval before leaving the U.S.
  • Brown is ordered not to “harass, assault, threaten or molest” Rihanna. He can’t have any contact, even on the phone or through a third person.

Chris Brown will not do time, but his probation terms are no joke.

Regarding the last item, Judge Patricia Schnegg said during the sentencing, “I am not immune to the chatter on the airwaves” - almost certainly a reference to reports that Brown and Rihanna are still talking or have even hooked up.

The judge says she means business and will consider it a probation violation and enforce the appropriate consequences if he does not abide by that order.

Rihanna Wants Chris Brown Restraining Order Lifted

Amid repeated reports that she and Chris Brown are sneaking around together, Rihanna says there is no need to keep her ex half a football field away.

Brown, who will be sentenced today after pleading guilty to assauling the “Umbrella” singer in February, is under court order not to communicate with her at all.

Moreover, he is not to come within 50 yards of her – and 10 yards if they’re both at the same event. Rumors suggest the two have hooked up in NYC recently.

“If asked, we will tell the court that all that’s necessary is a level-one order: That Brown not annoy, molest or harass her,” Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra said.

“No stay-away order was ever requested by Rihanna.”

Could this legally clear the way for the reconciliation some believe has already begun in secret? It will be up to judge Patricia Schnegg to decide that issue.

At the last hearing, Schnegg said she’d consider Rihanna’s request for a less-restrictive order against Chris Brown, which could allow the pair to be together.

Etra wouldn’t comment on whether the singers are still romantically involved. Rihanna will not be attending the hearing. Brown is required to be there.

After pleading guilty to felony assault, Brown is expected to be sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor to be served in Virginia. He will also complete a year of domestic violence classes, and pay fines.

In exchange for the plea, he will avoid serving any time behind bars, and a second felony charge of making criminal threats is expected to be dropped.

Last month, Brown publicly apologized for the incident for the first time, saying, “I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry and that I wasn’t able to handle the situation differently and better.
