Paris Hilton celebrated her birthday by stripping down, posing in leather and lace and climbing in a giant champagne glass while dressed in lingerie.  Lindsay Lohan went completely bare and has posed nude for a photo shoot.  The two former friends appear to have picked the same holiday weekend to try and boost their careers by flashing their bodies in what will surely be called a desperate cry for attention.

Hilton was working the “Pussycat Doll” routine in Las Vegas for her twenty-seventh birthday.  She went for the whole S&M look for a bit before stripping down for her lingerie photo shoot.  The girls went to the trouble to sing “Happy Birthday” to the dog-toting socialite.

Lindsay made her attempt to look like Marilyn is what can easily be dubbed as a pathetic failure.  To make matters worse, according to celebrity website TMZ.Com, LiLo brought along her little sister Ali Lohan to look on and see what her life will be like if she follows in the footsteps of her older sister.  Where is White Oprah?”

Just over a year ago, Lindsay and Paris were together playing with Britney Spears and were captured by photographers after a rough night of partying all in the same car.  Fifteen months later all seem to be in free fall.  Can stripping solve their problems?

Why was she released? That’s the lingering question after Britney Spears was discharged from the hospital Wednesday over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist and against the wishes of her father, who has been named as her conservator.

Jamie and Lynne Spears, in a joint statement given to The Associated Press through their attorney, said they were “extremely disappointed” to learn their daughter had been allowed out.

“We are deeply concerned about our daughter’s safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk,” the statement said. “We ask only that the court’s orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted.”

Jamie Spears on Monday was named conservator of his 26-year-old daughter, and he and attorney Andrew Wallet were made co-conservators of Britney’s estate.

A conservatorship is created when a court determines a person can no longer care for his or her own affairs.

Though she arrived at UCLA Medical Center escorted by a caravan of police motorcycles, cars and a helicopter, the singer left without media attention. She spent the day dodging the spotlight as she drove around Los Angeles in a black Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified man.

But photographers soon found her and surrounded the vehicle at each stop. When Spears’ car arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a detail of officers was sent to “keep the peace,” police Sgt. Mark Miner said. He said it’s common for such details to respond to reports of paparazzi causing a nuisance.

Spears’ release came after a series of legal developments in which her father fought for control of the pop star and her estate, her frequent companion was ordered to stay away from her, and her mother vividly described her daughter’s fragile state, drug use and the strange behavior that led to her hospitalization.

The troubled singer was hospitalized on Jan. 31. On Monday, Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled that Spears must remain in the conservatorship until at least Feb. 14. Goetz also appointed a physician to evaluate Spears’ condition.

On Friday, a court issued a restraining order against Sam Lufti, the man who’s been at Spears’ side in recent months. Her mother portrayed him as a Svengali-like figure who held her daughter hostage in her own home, drugged her, took over her finances and controlled the paparazzi who constantly surround her.

As her conservator, Spears’ father was granted access to all of his daughter’s medical records and authority to determine where Spears lives and who she sees.

Spears, who is in a child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, was also briefly hospitalized earlier in January after police were called to her home when she refused to return her sons to a Federline bodyguard after a visit.

Spears has since lost all visitation rights to her sons, 1-year-old Jayden James and 2-year-old Sean Preston.

On Wednesday, Buck said a grand theft report was filed with the Los Angeles Police Department, alleging that someone took “miscellaneous items,” including a painting and jewelry, from Spears’ home. Buck didn’t say who filed the report or when.

Former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland has labelled her former bandmate Beyonce Knowles a “slob”.

The 26-year-old told music website urbanplanet.co.uk that touring with the hugely successful three-piece became nightmarish because of the slovenly habits of Beyonce and Michelle Williams.

Though Rowland refused to rule out the chance of a Destiny’s Child reunion, her comments suggest she is delighted to be touring solo, ahead of the release of her new album Ms Kelly.

“They’re both slobs,” she explained. “We would get on a tour bus and they’d flick off their shoes. And I’d be like, ‘No! That’s the corner for shoes!’

“I’m a neat freak. I make them crazy,” she added.

Rowland, who sold over 100 million records with Destiny’s Child, admitted to feeling frustration at continual comparisons with her glamorous bandmate, saying: “People should respect me in my own solo right.”

The singer also rubbished recent rumours that she’s been dating Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates.

Rowland has been linked with Yates while promoting her new single Work but laughed off the claims, saying the former Top of the Pops presenter isn’t her type.

“He’s not tall, dark and handsome! He’s tall, bright, and… I guess cute? Reggie’s more like a friend. We were just hanging out at a party and exchanged information,” she said.

“I’ve been linked to three British men here,” she continued. “And it’s ok because you know it happens, I’m gonna be linked with someone else by the end of the year. Who cares?”

Rowland also admitted that while she loves the Destiny’s Child smash Say My Name, the songs Bootylicious and Bug A Boo became further reasons to look forward to a solo career.

She was out by 11:54 a.m., says Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

“She was cooperative,” Whitmore said. He also denied that Lohan got any favorable treatment, saying it is typical for misdemeanor offenders to serve a fraction of their jail time.

As it was, inmate 1059383 was sentenced to one day in jail after working out a plea deal to drunken-driving and cocaine charges stemming from dual DUI arrests earlier this year.

Aside from her day trip to county, the 21-year-old actress was placed on three years’ probation and ordered to perform 10 days of community service, complete drug treatment and attend an 18-month alcohol-education program. She was also forbidden from associating with drug users.

She was given until Jan. 18 to wrap up the jail term, drug treatment and community service.

Last month, she completed an extended sojourn at the Cirque Lodge in Utah and returned to work, shooting the tango-powered film Dare to Love Me. This week, she has been fulfilling her community service requirement by working at an American Red Cross donor center near Los Angeles.

Lohan’s 84 minutes in lockup falls just short of what is believed to be the celebrity inmate record of 82 minutes logged by Nicole Richie in August. But Lohan’s turnaround time easily trumps ex-Lost player Michelle Rodriguez ’s four hours, 27 minutes last year. Hilton, who faced a stricter initial sentence of 45 days, wound up spending 23 of them at Century Regional.

By comparison, it took moviegoers 105 minutes to suffer through all of Lohan’s last movie, I Know Who Killed Me.
