Lindsay Lohan calls President-elect Barack Obama “colored” in a new video.

“It was really exciting. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s our first colored president,” the Mean Girls star, 22, told Access Hollywood when asked about the election.

“I’m so thrilled to be part of the country while that’s going on, and that actually came to fruition,” added Lohan, who often voiced her support for Obama during the campaign.

The actress also says celebrities played a part in getting out the vote.

“I think what Leonardo DiCaprio did, and what a bunch of other celebrities did on MySpace was great…just to encourage people to vote,” she said.

In a rant on her MySpace page, the actress urged voters to back Barack Obama, as she launched into a scathing attack on the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

Speaking out on Palin’s beliefs, Lohan wrote, ‘I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin. I couldn’t be more supportive of a woman in office, but let’s face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.’

Rumoured to be in a lesbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, Lohan expressed particular distaste for Palin’s homophobic tendencies, ‘Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?

Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies… And it’s frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all that.’

Ending the online post, she added, ‘Is our country so divided that the Republicans’ best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?’ Oh, and… Hint Hint Pali Pal - Don’t pose for anymore tabloid covers, you’re not a celebrity, you’re running for office to represent our, your, my COUNTRY!’

Lohan is the latest in a line of celebrities to speak out on Palin, with Pamela Anderson and Matt Damon recently sounding off on the Republican.

Barack Obama has pulled out of his scheduled appearance on Saturday Night Live due to Hurricane Ike.

The Democratic presidential nominee’s spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, told the Associated Press that Obama didn’t feel like it was appropriate after the storm made landfall in Texas.

In addition, the hurricane may affect the tone of the NBC show’s season premiere, which will be hosted by Olympian Michael Phelps.

“If it’s serious, it will change everything for us,” the show’s creator and producer Lorne Michaels told Politco on Friday. “The tone of the show will shift, and it would be inappropriate for the senator to do if it looks in any way like it’s going to be a tragedy.”

According to the AP report, Obama also scaled down a planned rally in New Hampshire in the wake of the hurricane, and plans to return to Chicago after his campaign event where he will spend the weekend at home.

Spike Lee backs Obama

Director Spike Lee, whose movies often cast a sharp eye on U.S. racial politics, predicted a presidential victory for black Democrat Barack Obama that would mark a “new day” for the United States.

“It’s going to be before Obama, ‘B.B.,’ and after Obama — ‘A.B.’ — and some folks need to get used to this,” Lee said. “And I’m going to be at the inauguration — getting my hotel reservation now.”

The director of films including “Do The Right Thing,” and “Malcolm X,” spoke on Thursday evening at the Silverdocs film festival outside Washington. The festival is one of the major showcases for nonfiction films.

Silverdocs honored Lee for his documentaries including “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts,” about Hurricane Katrina, and the Oscar-nominated “4 Little Girls,” about the fatal 1963 bombing of a black church in Birmingham, Alabama, a milestone in the civil rights movement.

Lee said that like Katrina in 2005, the levee breaches now flooding the Upper Midwest were a sign of misplaced priorities by the national government. “That’s going to change, though,” he said. “We need a real Chocolate City,” an apparent reference to the prospect of the United States under Obama, who would be the first U.S. black president if elected in November.

The term “Chocolate City” has been used affectionately by African-Americans to refer to Washington and other predominantly black cities, and was the title of a 1975 album by the funk band Parliament. Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was criticized for racial divisiveness after Katrina for urging residents to rebuild a “chocolate New Orleans.”

Lee later explicitly endorsed Obama, as someone who would set the right course. “It’s not an if … he changes the world. He changes how the world looks at the United States,” Lee said.

It would be good for artists, too, who he said reflect the atmosphere around them. “It’s going to be a new day. Not just a new day, a better day.”
