Brad Pitt was emotional but calm, Angelina Jolie laughed and chatted. The world’s most famous celebrity couple were joined in emotion during the birth of their twins - a boy and a girl - and all “are doing marvelously well,” the doctor who delivered the babies in a seaside hospital on the French Riviera said Sunday.

The newborns - Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, born one minute apart Saturday evening - are the ultimate million-dollar babies, with experts estimating their first photos will fetch a fortune.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have reportedly shunned regular childcare help and are keen to raise their twins themselves.

Jennifer gave birth to daughter Emme and son Max in February and enlisted sister Lynda to help out until they got into the swing of it.

However, according to Us Weekly, Lynda left in the middle of April to concentrate on her own pregnancy and now the famous couple are handling diaper duty by themselves.

A source explained: “Jennifer looked forward to being a mom for so long that she has no interest in just handing the kids off to someone else.

“They’ll hire babysitters or nannies to cover particular occasions but on a day to day level, it’s just them - and they’re loving it.”

Lopez’s manager, Simon Fields, confirmed the babies’ names to People magazine.

Fields added that Lopez, a first-time mother at 39, was “thrilled” at the babies’ arrival last month.

Lopez, who only confirmed she was pregnant in November after months of speculation, gave birth at a hospital in Long Island, New York.

People magazine paid up to $6m (£3m) for the first pictures of the twins, it has been reported in the US.

Lopez and Anthony, 38, married in 2004.

Good news travels fast, and when Marc Anthony’s sister found out about the double blessing he and wife Jennifer Lopez had early Friday morning, she was overjoyed.

“I learned this morning. I’m ecstatic, I really am. I’m happy for her,” Yolanda Santa Maria, Anthony’s older sister, told PEOPLE Friday after hearing the birth news on Good Morning America. “She’s a mom for the first time. I can just imagine the euphoria she’s going through.”

And as for her brother? “It’s another two blessings for him. He beat me – I have four [kids] and now he has five. I’m so happy for him. I don’t even know what to say. It’s like if I had the babies.”

Santa Maria, who expects to meet her new niece and nephew soon, added, “I can’t wait to see them, I can’t wait to meet them. Words don’t even begin to express how happy I am for them.”
