American rapper Jermaine Dupri has taken a swipe at Justin Timberlake, in his new autobiography.

The 35-year old is very livid at the Sexyback star as he didn’t stand up for Dupri’s ladylove Janet Jackson during her ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at the Super Bowl as Timberlake was present along with her on stage.

I think Justin Timberlake is a talented performer. But he’s very ordinary looking. He could be any skinny white kid from the suburbs of Orlando,” Dupri writes in his autobiography. “You could go to the mall and find another Justin.

He doesn’t make his style interesting even when he’s onstage,” he added. Dupri also commented about the 26-year old singer in his autobiography, Young, Rich and Dangerous saying that Justin doesn’t have the star looks. “To me, he just doesn’t look like a star,” he wrote.

Mel B. is the latest Spice Girl to update their official blog.

This is what she has to share:

“Alright you lot,

Wow, what a busy few days I’ve had… it’s been mental but brilliant at the same time. As you know, I flew to the UK with Victoria last week so that we could hook up with the other girls to shoot the video for our new single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends). It was a really, really long day but I think that’s because we all sat around drinking tea and gossiping like a bunch of old women! We had such a laugh. It was great to be together again and I think the video is going to look fan-bloody-tastic. I can’t wait to see it finished and on TV.

Hopefully you will have heard the single by now as it was played on radio on Tuesday morning. We are really pleased with it and hope that you will love it as much as we do. I can’t wait to perform it for the first time with the rest of the girls.

I’m back in LA now as I’m Dancing With The Stars. I was so pleased with the judges’ comments this week. I was really nervous about the performance as I had such little time to practice but I think the other girls brought me luck. I really enjoyed dancing to Spice Up Your Life. My dancing partner Maks was with me in the UK so that we could practice our routine in-between takes of the video. Although I think the other girls scared him a bit – but that’s what Girl Power is all about.

I’m so excited about the tour and soon we will all be together in LA so we can really get stuck in to rehearsals. It is going to be such an AMAAAAAAZING show, so I hope you’ve all got your tickets!

See you all soon

Melanie B”

Are social networking sites a bad investment?

October 2nd, 2007 - 20 Comments »

Investors like to move in packs, and so it’s no big surprise that the success of MySpace and Facebook has led to a feeding frenzy in the social networking niche.

With Facebook in particular looking like the “Next Big Thing”, corporations and venture capitalists alike are pouring money into technologies and services that promise to connect people with one another.

Last week, these were among the headlines on paidcontent.org (an excellent source of new media news): “Sk Telecom to Invest $110 million in Online Businesses in U.S. [mostly in social networking site Cyword]”, “Social Voice Messaging Startup Snapvine Raises $10 million”, “Online Avatar Firm…Raises $5.4 million”, “MTV Introduces Cause-Related Social Net”, “Digg Adds Social Networking Elements”, “Facebook Creates $10 million fund to Developers”, “Yahoo Starts Testing Social Networking Service”, and so on.

In one sub-niche alone – social networking sites aimed at baby boomers – there are now more than half-a-dozen well-funded competitors, including Multiply, Eons, Boomertown and TeeBeeDee.
