Pop singer Britney Spears was released from a psychiatric ward at the UCLA Medical Center today after nearly a week of treatment.

It was unclear where she was going, but sources said she might head to one of her homes before seeking additional treatment.

Unlike the spectacle surrounding her trip to the Westwood medical facility last week, she slipped out with relatively little fanfare. A private security detail escorted her in contrast to last week when more than a dozen Los Angeles police officers escorted Spears to the hospital via motorcade.

Prior to joining Sirius, Salkowitz was with Clear Channel Communications as a Format Director and Brand Manager overseeing the launch and programming for 10 major market stations, as well as serving as Program Director for JAMMIN 105 — New York (WTJM-FM). His past experience also includes management, production and programming positions at Fox Television, E.M.I. Records, Westwood One, ABC Radio, NBC Radio and Emmis Communications. As Regional VP of Programming at Emmis’ HOT97 (WQHT) in New York, he helped develop the Rhythm Top 40 format that dominated contemporary radio during the late 1980s and early 1990s and was also responsible for overseeing programming at Emmis’ WAVA (Washington DC) and WLOL (Minneapolis).

Film director Woody Allen fears for the well-being of Scarlett Johansson.

The director worries the New Yorkstar may be tempted to indulge in the party lifestyle - and hopes that Johansson will listen and follow a career path more like Meryl Streep.

Allen worries that Scarlett may join the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, each who have marginal careers in film.

The New York Post Page Six reports Allen saying, “(Johansson) is so beautiful and so sexy and so gifted… she can do anything, but she has to make the right choices of films and she’s got to not go the Page Six party route…I don’t want to read about her in the paper with this boyfriend or that boyfriend, or in rehab or taking pills. I don’t think she’s always made great choices. She has to take her acting seriously… the way someone like Meryl Streep did it.”

Paris Hilton, who will head over to Harvard Square today for Harvard University’s annual Harvard Lampoon roast, tells Us Weekly and Parade.com she’s gearing up for a small screen role on Showtime’s sapphic drama “The L Word.” The “Hottie and the Nottie” star says: “Once the strike is over, we are going to start talks, but I am definitly shooting it.” Asked whether the hotel heirhead will get up close and personal with one of the female stars, Hilton, 26, repsonds, “I don’t know yet.” Set your TiVo!

Twins are suspected for two celebrities, but one is now confirmed if you believe Jennifer Lopez’s dad.

David Lopez, the father of J.Lo, told the Spanish-language Escandalo TV that his daughter and her husband Marc Anthony are expecting two bundles of joy, reports People.

“Yes, twins,” said the elder Lopez. “The thing is in my family, my sister also had twins, so it’s a hereditary thing. I’m very proud. Jennifer has yearned to be a mother for many years.”

The soon-to-be grandfather has already bought presents for the babies.

“In Puerto Rico it’s custom to buy an azabache [a black stone] bracelet for babies to protect them from the evil eye,” he explained. “It’s part of our culture.”

Jennifer Lopez revealed her pregnancy to Miami concertgoers in November at the end of her “El Cantante” tour.

Now if only Jon Voight would get on the phone … well, he probably wouldn’t be able to confirm anything about Angelina Jolie anyway.
