Eamon Doyle, professionally known as Eamon (pronounced Ae-Mon), is a talented hip-hop and R&B singer/songwriter from Staten Island/New York. He describes his influences as ranging from Frankie Lymon and Frank Sinatra to Stevie Wonder and "all of hip-hop"; his own term for the unique blend of influences is "HO-WOP". This new musical genre is defined by Eamon as "a flavor of hip-hop, a flavor of doo-wop, and ho's."


"There’s a lot more similarity between doo-wop and hip-hop than most people would think”, says Eamon. "Both started out on street corners - whether it was these doo-wop guys in the ‘50s and ‘60s or folks free-styling in the ‘80s and ‘90s - as a genuine way for young people to express what they were feeling. I’ve experienced both sides; I feel like an old-school dude in a young person’s body." His love for music and appreciation of those around him can be seen in his down-to-earth attitude. "I'm not tryin' to be no one else; I'm just tryin' to be myself".

Eamon was born in Port Richmond and he now lives in Bulls Head on Staten Island, New York City. Growing up in decidedly middle-class, Eamon is the youngest of 3 children in what he describes as "a loud Italian-Irish family". Eamon's father, Walter, is of Irish origin and he was a member of a doo-wop group which played old songs from the '50s and '60s. He is currently a counselor who does his practise privately. Eamon's mother, Diane, is Italian (grandmother from Naples and a Sicilian grandfather) and she is a well-respected nurse on Staten Island. Eamon also has an older brother, Justin, and an older sister, Monique.

Eamon has been recording since the age of 9, performing with his father's doo-wop group under the name of "Eamon and The Elations". He stayed in school until high school. With 15 he already started writing his own stuff and worked at the studio of the legendary hip-hop producer Kirk Robinson (aka Milk Dee from Audio Two).

Eamon was only 16 years old when he wrote his first hit single, about the way he felt when he found out from his friends that the girl he was dating at that time was cheating on him. Milk Dee noticed his talent, so Eamon started to record a demo for the "F**k It" song and sent it to record labels. Eventually, he got a contract with Jive Records and started to record the "F**k It" single and his debut album, "I Don't Want You Back". "A lot of songs from this album were recorded when I was 16 to 19 [...] When I wrote "F**k It", I was hurting [...] People go through break-ups every day, and that’s the way they really talk. I’m just telling it straight from the heart", explains Eamon.

Less than a decade later, he was filling stadiums around the world with now-generation hip-hop flavored anthems, charged by his own woman-done-me-wrong global smash, “F**k It (I Don’t Want You Back)”. Overseas, the story grew even bigger; Eamon’s message wowed the world, scoring gold or platinum status in several European countries. In Europe, he also received the FestivalBar award in 2004 as the most successful international artist of the year.

Speaking about his sudden rise to stardom, Eamon said, "I always had faith, but never thought it would be this big [...] It's the greatest feeling in the world when someone tells me that song changed their life", he added regarding the impact of his hit single. Despite his lyrics, he said, "I don't hate girls at all, I have a mother, a grandmother and a sister. I'm a respectful person, I have the most respect for girls."

Eamon also holds a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for "The Most Expletives in a #1 Song" for his single "F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)". He is featured in the 2006 edition book with a top-of-the-page plug of his 2004 album cover!



The success of the single and the controversial nature of its lyrics prompted production of an answer single, "F.U.R.B (F**k You Right Back)" by unknown female singer Frankee who had claimed to be Eamon's ex-girlfriend.

However, Eamon denied Frankee's statements and he recorded a response track, entitled "My #1 Fan", which is available on his "Love Them Ho's" single CD.

With his second album entitled "Love & Pain" (2006), Eamon continues to apply his musical stamp to current pop culture. He still has plenty of vim and in-your-face vigor that authenticates his Staten Island/NY roots, but he has also matured as a singer, punctuating his everyman point of view with a more thoughtful lyrical approach and a dexterous musical template that will surprise those who doubt him.

"I did not recorded my second album just to make it a repeated success of my first one. I could only do my best by writing the songs and singing better. Certainly, I can say that I like the "Love & Pain" album a lot more, because I have matured, and the songs were recorded in a much more professional way. Moreover, these new tracks have been written with more awareness."

"I entitled my new album "Love & Pain", because it is an appropriate title for a record that speaks about relationships. It expresses the two sides of life: the pleasant, sunny side and the hard, dark side. In everyone’s life, there are beautiful moments and bad moments. These affect me too, because both are part of our daily lives."

Even if he hasn't lived every experience he writes or sings about, the artist considers himself an ardent observer of the common man. "I see things around me and I'm inspired by them, so I write it all down. Sometimes I'm watching a crazy movie or a TV show and I see somebody making a fool out of themselves and it gives me ideas [...]
I have many ideas for a new album. I want to work hard and have fun too, because I am living my dream and life is made to feel good [...] I love to get onstage and to make music. There's a lot of good stuff still to come, as well. Just stay tuned!" Unfortunately, according to the Zomba Label Group, the parent of Jive Records, Eamon is not on its official artist roster as of early 2008. However, he has been working on the 3rd album since then and the new material should be released soon!!
