Week 14 Who to Start and Who to Sit

New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons   1:00pm

Start: Jeremy Shockey, TE (NO)

Explanation: Though Shockey hasn’t been that productive over the last month of the season, he did have a good game against them last time these two teams met.  The Falcons are one of the worst teams in the league against the tight end so expect a nice game from him this week.

Sit: Jason Snelling, RB (ATL)

Explanation: I have a feeling that the Falcons will get down early in this game, leading to a lot of passing situations.  This will lead to poor production from Snelling making him not worth a start this week.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears   1:00pm

Start: Ryan Grant, RB (GB)

Explanation: The Bears defense is just horrible and he was able to score on them last time these two teams met.  Expect to see a lot of carries from Grant this week.

Sit: Jay Cutler, QB (CHI)

Explanation: The Packers secondary has been solid all season and this week should be no exception.  Cutler has been horrible this year, so don’t expect much here.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts    1:00 pm

Start: Brandon Marshall, WR (DEN)

Explanation: The Colts secondary is giving up a lot in the passing game as of late, which means a huge game for Marshall.  If you are an owner of Marshall, make sure you get him in your lineup.

Sit: Joseph Addai, RB (IND)

Explanation: This game is going to come down to who has the better passing game, so don’t expect much from Addai as the Colts go through the air more often than on the ground.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs   1:00pm

Start: Fred Jackson, RB (BUF)

Explanation: The Bills has committed to Jackson as their starting running back, which is great for owner who held onto to him this long.  Expect a huge game for Jackson against a dreaded rush defense.

Sit: Matt Cassel, QB (KC)

Explanation: The game plan to beat the Bills is a heavy running attack, not passing attack.  Expect the Chiefs to use their running game more often than their passing game in this one.

Cincinnati Bengals at Minnesota Vikings   1:00pm

Start: Chad Ochocinco, WR (CIN)

Explanation: The Vikings are still solid against the pass, but Ochocino is the only receiver the Bengals have.  Expect him to get enough targets to make him worth a start this week.

Sit: Visanthe Shiancoe, TE (MIN)

Explanation: The Bengals have been stingy against the tight end this season and that should be the case once again this weekend.  Despite his red zone looks, bench him this week.

Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots   1:00pm

Start: Laurence Maroney, RB (NE)

Explanation: The Panthers can be run on this year and Maroney has been running well.  Despite the uncertainty of carries, Maroney should get enough to make him worth a start this week.

Sit: Steve Smith, WR (CAR)

Explanation: Although the Patriots have been horrible against the pass this season, the Panthers haven’t been able to have a consistent passing game.  Smith may have a good game, but it is a gamble, that why I think he should be benched this week.

New York Jets at Tampa Bay Buccaneers   1:00pm

Start: Thomas Jones, RB (NYJ)

Explanation: With backup quarterback Kellen Clemens taking the snaps look for Jones to get even more carries that he normally does.  He is a must start this week and should have a monster game against a dreaded defense.

Sit: Antonio Bryant, WR (TB)

Explanation: Bryant will have lockdown cornerback Darrelle Revis covering him, which means a bad day for Bryant.  Be sure to bench him this week.

Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars   1:00pm

Start: Chad Henne, QB (MIA)

Explanation: Henne has been playing excellent lately, and the Jaguars shouldn’t change that.  Expect another solid performance from Henne this week.

Sit: Mike Sims-Walker, WR (JAC)

Explanation: Although Sims-Walker seems to be the only receiver David Garrard likes to throw to, he may not get the ball as much as he is used to.  The Dolphins secondary is getting better each week, meaning it may be a long day for Sims-Walker.

Detroit Lions at Baltimore Ravens   1:00pm

Start: Calvin Johnson, WR (DET)

Explanation: This is an excellent matchup for Johnson, as the Ravens continue to struggle against the pass.  Expect a big day form Johnson and be sure to start him this week.

Sit: Joe Flacco, QB (BAL)

Explanation: Despite a good matchup, Flacco has been too inconsistent to start in this game.  If you can, stay away from him in this matchup.

Seattle Seahawks at Houston Texans   1:00pm

Start: Chris Brown, RB (HOU)

Explanation: Steve Slaton’s season is now over, meaning an increased workload for Brown.  The Seahawks are horrid against the run so feel free to start him in this matchup.

Sit: Nate Burleson, WR (SEA)

Explanation: The Texans secondary has been playing week as of late, so go in a different direction here.

St. Louis Rams at Tennessee Titans   4:05pm

Start: Steven Jackson, RB (STL)

Explanation: Although this isn’t the best matchup for Jackson, he has been defying odds all season.  Expect another good performance against the Titans this week.

Sit: Vince Young, QB (TEN)

Explanation: Young will not be fully healthy come Sunday, but will play in the game.  This may mean less mobility, which is not good for Young owners.

Washington Redskins at Oakland Raiders  4:05pm

Start: Quinton Ganther, RB (WAS)

Explanation: Ganther will be the starting running back for the redskins on Sunday, which couldn’t have come at a better time.  He should be able to run all over the Raiders defense so start him if you need to.

Sit: Zack Miller, TE (OAK)

Explanation: The Redskins are solid against the pass, and their linebackers have been able to cover the tight end well.  Don’t expect much from Miller in this matchup.

San Diego Chargers at Dallas Cowboys   4:15pm

Start: Roy Williams, WR (DAL)

Explanation: Williams is finally starting to produce, especially in the red zone.  Expect Williams to continue his hot streak and get plenty of production in the red zone against the Chargers.

Sit: LaDainian Tomlinson, RB (SD)

Explanation: The Cowboys have looked good against the run lately, so don’t expect much from his this week.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants   8:20pm

Start: Kevin Boss, TE (NYG)

Explanation: Although Boss hasn’t been consistent this season, he had a great game against the Eagles last time these two teams met.  If you need him, start him this week.

Sit: LeSean McCoy, RB (PHI)

Explanation: The Giants are going to be looking for McCoy to have a big game, so they will do whatever they can to stop him.  If you can, go with a different running back for this game.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers   8:30pm (MON)

Start: Anquan Boldin, WR (ARI)

Explanation: Boldin is fully healthy and has been playing great as of late.  Be sure to get him in your lineup at all costs.

Sit: Frank Gore, RB (SF)

Explanation: The 49ers are becoming a pass-first offense, taking away opportunities for Gore.  This week should be no exception as the Cardinals are horrible against the pass.
